KAMPALA November 9, 2006
The writing is on the wall. International conventions based on Kingdoms or regions are the wave of the future for Ugandans overseas. In August Ggwangamujje NY/NJ started circulating an email saying that Baganda Ttabamiruka ’07 was coming. This will be the third Baganda Ttabamiruka, the first having been held in New York and Dallas, respectively. It did not say when or where. Then in September another email came, adding the information that Ttabamiruka ’07 would be held on 31 August – 2 November, 2007. Based on what has happened so far, we can expect more Ttabamiruka emails to come. But Baganda are not the only Ugandans who are planning a special convention for their Kingdom or region. The Basoga Twegaitte North American Association will go to Houston, Texas, for their “2007 Basoga Twegaitte Convention” on 8-10 June, 2007. The last Acholi convention was held in Canada in October 2006. And the International Community of Banyakigezi (ICOB) have theirs slated for 3-6 August 2007.
